“Could stress be a warning signal that
you’re not living out your true purpose?”
Stressed? Who isn’t? Research studies show that 90%-95% of all doctor visits are for stress-related disorders. As a matter of fact, according to the Center for Disease Control, 83% of all adult deaths between the ages of 21 and 65 are related to lifestyle and stress.
Countless statistics and basic observation demonstrate that stress has become an epidemic in our society and may well be America’s #1 health problem.
Ever wonder how much money you’ve spent attempting to medicate and eliminate the stress in your life? How has stress kept you from moving forward toward accomplishing your God-given dreams? How many years have you lost due to the claws of stress?
When we are stressed, society has taught us to: sleep more, eat more, buy more, watch TV, play video games, go to counseling, take medication, take a vacation, etc. This is like applying a band-aid to a broken bone. These solutions are temporary at best, each a form of a broken promise–a cheap and temporary promise of relief.
Here’s what’s interesting. The majority of Christians, who profess to follow a powerful and supernatural God, are just as tired and stressed as the rest of the society.
Doesn’t that seem strange?
The Bible says that Jesus came to give us abundant life. We were meant to soar on wings like eagles. We were designed to live like we were more than conquerors. Isaiah promises that those who hope in the Lord will run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint. The Bible also says that we would do greater things than Jesus did.
Believe it or not, there are actually Christians out there who have gone from being stressed and exhausted to living a life of strength and supernatural peace—all by discovering and living out their one true purpose.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man… Surely he will never be shaken… He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord… His heart is secure, he will have no fear (Psalm 112:3-4, 6-8).
We were never meant to “manage” stress. We were promised to overcome it. This is our heritage as a child of the Almighty God.

So… how do we go from being stressed to being more than conquerors?
Here is an illustration to demonstrate the answer…
Two men are driving to work one morning, each in their own car, taking the same freeway, going to the exact same job. One is angry and stressed due to the terrible traffic condition. The other is happy and relaxed, enjoying the extra time to sing worship songs and talk to the Lord.
What’s the difference between these two men?
Their purpose.
The fact is, your purpose will always determine your stress level.
If you are one who lives a life of stress, could there be a chance that you have fallen for a counterfeit life purpose?
Here’s Michael’s story of stress:
For years Michael lived a life of stress. Except, he fancied himself as one who did a really good job at “managing” the stress that accompanied years in a sales and marketing career. He also took pride in being able to handle the stress that came with juggling his career and family.
Then Michael’s life took a turn. He hit a two-year span where he moved his family five times, had four different jobs, and lost thousands of dollars from a real estate venture. He also lost all of his equity from his real estate properties, got scammed from a franchise he had purchased, accumulated much debt, and lost a couple of loved ones very close to him—all the while trying to provide for his wife and two children.
In desperation, Michael lived on his knees, begging God for help. He buried himself in prayer and Bible study like he never had in the past. The main subject of his study was the subject of stress. Halfway through this dark two-year tunnel, the Lord revealed to him the counterfeit purposes that he had been living by, based on lies. He then realized how much stress and worry ran his life!
Through the hardship of those two years, despair caused Michael to search for God’s power and intimate love. He realized that it was one thing for him to know about his heavenly Father’s love, but it was another thing to believe and experience it. Through Michael’s desperate search, he also discovered the deep longing that all humanity has for the Father’s love and approval.

Michael learned that regardless of how much he wanted to get deeper in his relationship with God, he couldn’t move forward unless he discovered and released the lies that had been like heavy shackles in his life. Through Scripture, the Lord taught him life’s ultimate purpose, and he, in response, took the plunge and immersed himself in this purpose.
As Michael lived out this true purpose, he fell deeply in love with his heavenly Father in a way he never thought was possible. Stress unexpectedly lifted off his back. Peace and joy slowly consumed his very being for the first time. Though he was never pursuing peace and joy––he found that they came as a result of his time with God (Galatians 5:22). It was a strange phenomenon for him not to feel stress and anxiety, even though his circumstances seemed to worsen.
Beyond not feeling the stress anymore, Michael noticed that there were some other significant differences in his life. Things that normally annoyed him now hardly bothered him at all. He had more energy and a love for life. He was healthier than he had ever been. Chronic illnesses that used to restrain Michael, slowly disappeared right before his eyes.
All of these benefits were results of Michael pursuing and living out life’s true purpose.
Most churchgoers today have done their best to do the right things. With a robust spirit of self-determination, they go to church, pray, read the Bible, and volunteer endless hours at their church–all the while truly wanting to know how to get close to God. But this pattern of self-determination neglects to show the fruits of one who is soaring on wings like eagles. They have unknowingly embraced counterfeit life purposes––based on lies––that have resulted in stress and anxiety.
Based on biblical principles, proven scientific research, medical studies, and personal experience, What Does God Really Want is a groundbreaking book that shines new light on the root cause of stress.
It reveals the surprising link between stress and your life purpose, explaining how your purpose will always determine your stress level. This book will help you identify and avoid the lies that cause stress. What Does God Really Want shows how God uses stress as a warning signal when a crippling lie has snuck into your mind.

"For God-seekers who really want to know God, this book will be the key to unlocking the barred doors of their minds, offering freedom they’ve never found addressed anywhere else. Michael’s teaching will revolutionize the way we relate to God. I can honestly say I’ll never be the same again.”
Nancy Williams, Senior Editor

"Trillo, virtually an unknown first time author, takes readers to places many never get to in a lifetime. He provides sage insight from his own struggle to live a purposeful life as it unfolds into something radically different from where he began––a place where we would all like to be. It prompted personal evaluation and realignment in my own life.”
Chris Renzelman,
NW Regional Coordinator
National Network of Youth Ministry
"There’s nothing hard about this. With the Bible as his foundation, Trillo charts a true course from exhaustion, sickness, and anxiety, to living with purpose, joy, peace, and strength. This book will encourage you to a deeper relationship with Jesus.”
Jeremy Kingsley, President

“When I read the book it created several important lasting imprints on me. Mike is unique in his style and his passion comes through the pages. My recommendation is to buy at least ten of his book to pass them out to your friends and family.”
Sean Quental, President

“Mike, THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS BOOK! I can't even begin to tell you what a blessing it has been to me. You have taken a what many people would consider a challenging concept (relationship with God) and you have broken it down into bit-sized pieces that actually make sense. Thank you for your transparency in writing this book. This is one of those rare books where someone has really shown you their heart via the written word.”
Deborah Enos, CN
Author of “Weight A Minute! Transform your health in 60 seconds a day”
“Trillo has done what so many academics cannot. He has somehow found a way to identify the most important components inherent in Christianity (Love and Forgiveness) and with stunning logic and no-nonsense simplicity, effectively communicates just why they are so important. If you're hurting physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually you cannot help but experience healing in all four areas after reading this book.”

“Thank you, Michael Trillo, for writing this timely book for the body of Christ. Michael leads us through the necessary steps demonstrating that stress affecting our body, soul and spirit does not have to be our way of life. Michael is very transparent in the way he shares how he was able to overcome negative habits. By developing loving relationships as the focus of our life’s purpose, he inspires us to expect that others can eat off of our tree as well. The Methow Valley Ranch is a Christian retreat center. Many pass through our doors looking for a way out of the stress and frustrations of our society. We plan to encourage our guests to read this book as part of the answer to their prayers.”
Laurie Hobart, Owner and Director
Methow Valley Ranch
“Mikes book is a fantastic and fresh revelation for both believers and non-believers alike. His deep revelations helped me to feel my "Dads" love in a very new, powerful, and relevant way. As a doctor I also found his understanding of human physiology and behavior to be quite impressive. This is a five star book, a must read for all believers! A book that can radically alter ones life by bringing believers into a deeper relationship with the Father.”
Dr. Nick Bagnaro
Redmond, Washington
After reading What Does God Really Want, I was reminded, overwhelmed, and comforted by the fact the we have an amazing Father who has eagerly shown His love and continues to do so. I never realized how many indicators God has given me to illustrate the state of our relationship. I most appreciated Michael's encouragement to build personal habits that bring me into deeper fellowship with the One who calls me "Friend of God."
Todd Merry, Firefighter
Maple Valley, Washington
In these days of repackaged micro-truths and self-help books, Trillo has produced a refreshing book that closely examines our chaotic lives against the truth of the Bible. He provides very practical suggestions as to how we are to live; practices that he has clearly first put into his own life. One can profit from his work if you are a brand new Christian or a seminary educated pastor-teacher.

“Mike’s book opened my eyes to the connection between my spiritual/emotional health and my physical health. Thank you Mike, for your diligence in sharing this message of the Father’s love. Your research and arguments are compelling and powerful, especially for those with a scientific background.”
Stephen Morse, Mechanical Engineer

“My wife and I recently read Michael Trillo's new book and were blown away by the simple biblical principles that can literally change your life. It is amazing to understand that most stress actually stems from bitterness and fear. Mike Trillo delivers a powerful message of forgiveness and how it can release you from stress and sickness. We have seen friends apply some of the principles of this book and have been healed of neck and back pain almost instantly. "What does God really want" is easily one of the best books I have read in the past few years. I feel like I need to read it again and I just finished it.”
Troy Smith, College Pastor
Bellevue, Washington
“Outside of the Bible, this book has impacted my life like no other. I have found myself talking and praying about, as well as internalizing this teaching. In doing so, the mental and emotional patterns of my spiritual walk have drastically changed. As a homemaker, I am relating differently to my husband, my children, my loved ones, and surprisingly – myself. The most amazing part is how naturally this is coming about, without having to “try harder,” to “love better”. I am, quite simply loving life and those around me in a deeper way, all because of what I have learned in this book about what my Heavenly Father really thinks of me and how He wants me to relate to Him. I cannot recommend “What Does God Really Want?” highly enough.

“I’ve read many books in my life but by far, this is the most influential, powerful and practical book I’ve read thus far. Many books tell us how we should live but somehow leave us groping in the dark on how to go about doing it. This phenomenal book step-by-step cites on HOW to live the victorious Christian life God intends us to. In his book, Michael uses the different “action points” on how to implement the important ingredients in our daily lives on how to achieve the mindset of a conquering Christian. He describes in detail on how our minds impact our whole being. The book is so touched by God that my whole perspective in life has totally been altered for the best. I NEVER thought that this victorious Christian living that God intends for us to live can truly be lived out. WOW!!! Thank you Michael for listening to our God & for sharing with us what He has shared with you!!!!”
Apple Carpenter, R.N.
Sherman Oaks, California
“This book taught me, first and foremost, the importance of receiving God's love. I was not even aware that I had not done so. As a result of reading this book, my relationship with my Heavenly Father has been completely transformed. Because of this book, I am much more energetic, much less stressed/anxious, and much more peace-filled. This book is one to keep on the shelf and refer to from time to time. I know for certain that anyone who reads it will be blessed tremendously. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to live a life that is more purposeful, impactful, and peaceful.”
